So targa tops make a comeback.

I hope so too. I wonder how it will feel on this car. Will it feel more like being in a convertible or more like just having a sunroof?

I think it'll do well. For the first time there is a stylish Miata.

I sure hope this roof makes it to the FIAT 124 as well, that would be awesome! I love how it looks and how it works, and this might make a nice replacement for my Abarth one day. Unless I splurge for an Elise..

Make it a proper targa instead of this power nonsense.

But it’s going to be soooooo heavy! It’ll probably be like 2500 pounds, instead of the stock 2332 pounds! And 2500 pounds practically makes it a 5000 pound SUV!

The rear window rolls down so I think it'll be more airy than most targas

And the delicate mechanism inside will be more complicated than the clock work in Big Ben. It’ll probably be breaking down like every other day! Oh the humanity!

I hate this becuase it’s so good looking that it really deflates the whole miata coup argument.

That's not a targa top, is it? Isn't it a hardtop convertible - automatic roof? I know Porsche is confusing the issue with their Targa but I think that's because they own the trademark on the word. I always thought targa top meant manually removable roof sections.

Agreed. Except that most new car buyers probably expect this level of convenience. But maybe they could make an old school targa option for a little less, and save some weight as well.

I’m sure they’ll look cool on their way to their hairdresser gig.

If the roof is metal I say weld it all up and remove the mechanism plus anything else unnecessary, throw in a roll bar. I hate convertibles. When it’s sunny out the last thing I want is to be under the sun getting all sticky in my car. Then you have to put on sunscreen or wear a dumb hat that is not good with the wind.

I ordered an ND and then bought a 2008 PRHT instead and haven't regretted it in the slightest until now.....

I’d hesitate to call this a targa top. It’s a folding hardtop. The fact that it keeps a B pillar doesn’t really change that. the 458 spider pulls off a similar look, blurring lines further:

Targa tops comeback? You know that the corvette has had targa tops for a long time and still does, right? In fact that's standard equipment.

So what if I buy this, then I take out all the electronics and replace it with a manually operated carbon fiber piece? #profit?

The Miata itself has done a piss-poor job of bringing the Roadster back, so I would not bet on it.

so i can buy a cheap one with blown motor after 5 years, and LS swap it
